So by this point most people have at least heard of hydrogen fuel cells and a few clusters may know people who are driving one of these futuristic eco-vehicles. What almost no one has heard about is the team in Britain that is looking to make hydrogen fuel cells the next big thing in portable technology.

Scaling the fuel cells to an incredible size, Intelligent Energy was about to “seamlessly integrate” the little power housing into an iPhone 6. The article claims that the only modifications that were necessary to achieve this installation were slits to vent moisture “exhaust” from the cell. Now this advancement will not replace the current lithium-ion batteries, instead supporting them and extending the life from an average of 1 day to 6 days. What this will do is enable someone who may not have immediate access to electrical outlets the ability to remain productive for days.

They still have some hurdles to navigate as far as recharging the fuel cell and ensuring that adequate measures are taken to maintain safe use of the device, but as technology advances it will be neat to see where these uncommon power sources will pop up next.
