Avnet Providing Sales and Support in the Americas for Nordic Semiconductor’s Ultra Low Power Wireless Solutions
Avnet, a leading global technology distributor, will now distribute Nordic Semiconductor’s “Bluetooth® Low Energy (Bluetooth LE), ANT+, IEEE 802.15.4, and 2.4GHz proprietary ultra low power (ULP) wireless connectivity solutions in the Americas” per an agreement the two parties signed in March 2018, as revealed in Avnet’s press release.
Nordic Semiconductor, headquartered in Oslo, Norway, is a “RF specialist in ultra-low power wireless communications,” as conveyed on the company’s website. In fact, they’re the “world’s leading Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE) chip supplier,” per their page on Avnet’s website.
The agreement expands upon the established relationship between the two partners in EMEA and Asia. J. Darren O’Donnell, Director of Sales, Americas, Nordic Semiconductor notes in the press release that this partnership “‘positions Nordic to fully leverage Avnet’s extensive global scale and top-notch technical expertise to accelerate deployment of our full range of ultra low power wireless solutions throughout the global IoT value chain.’”
According to this agreement, “OEM customers across Europe, Asia Pacific, the U.S., Canada and Latin America will have access to Nordic’s complete range of ULP wireless connectivity hardware, firmware, development tools, and reference designs, including the recently launched Bluetooth 5 advanced multiprotocol nRF52840 System-on-Chip (SoC), and the nRF52810 SoC, an entry level Bluetooth 5 multiprotocol device, with pre- and post-sales support from Avnet’s state-of-the-art technical and supply chain optimization resources” as stated in the press release. Having these technologies available to customers on such a global scale will surely help manufacturers bring innovations to market.
Avnet offers services across the entire lifecycle of technology products. Its wholly owned subsidiaries “serve specific regions of the world and segments of the technology project lifecycle,” as mentioned on the company’s website.
