As one of the latest and possibly the greatest innovations in technology, researchers at the University of California are working on smart-clothing that will provide you personal air conditioning. Not only that, but to alleviate dependence on traditional DC batteries they will power their smart-clothes with sweat. All this will be thanks to an earlier breakthrough in which they were able to produce a flexible biofuel cell to convert the sweat into energy which can be stored in flexible battery technologies (such as the supercapacitor thread from the University of Drexel).

What these advances will do is provide the basis for commercialization of the technologies and drive overall cheaper, more widely available electronics. As more and more cutting-edge products come to market we will begin to see a greater number of countries involved in research and interconnected development. This will also hopefully help to make electronics and the modern lifestyle more energy efficient to reduce pollution.
