Partstat API FAQ

By Logan Wamsley

The engine that drives Partstat’s unique solutions has always been our data. Derived from thousands of distributors from around the world and analyzed using a series of complex algorithms, our data offers electronics manufacturers access to the most accurate, up-to-date overview of the state of market available. But far from being just an overhead view, our Big Data allows users to drill down to analyze the state of the market for each individual electronic component on their bill of material.

Alongside our solutions, however, we also offer manufacturers the option of incorporating all the benefits of our Big Data directly into their systems using Partstat API. After receiving some inquiries about this offering, we decided to compile a few of the most common questions received into a short FAQ.

1. What is Partstat API and why is it valuable?

It’s only been recently that electronic inventory sourcing has begun to see the benefits of e-commerce data-sharing technologies incorporated into daily processes. APIs, or application programming interfaces, is one example of this trend. Most commonly offered by component distributors and other such suppliers as a new way to serve customers, APIs grant OEMs direct access to real-time, up-to-date data including inventory pricing and inventory quantities without any added inefficiencies. Partstat API takes this even further by offering data that is not limited by a single supplier; in one request, the user will immediately have full access to all the data available on a particular component or semiconductor spanning the entire electronics manufacturing industry.

2. Is Partstat API limited to certain programming languages or platform?

Not at all! Partstat API was designed with flexibility in mind and can be easily queried using the programming language of your choice. All user requests are made using RESTful, and the data is returned using the industry-standard JSON format.

3. Are there any data restrictions?

Absolutely not! Partstat API users have full access to the Big Data that drives the industry’s only complete electronic component lifecycle platform. In total, this includes approximately 50 billion data points on over 51 million rows of inventory!

4. Who are some of the distributors and channel partners who make up the data used in Partstat API?

Thousands of manufacturers and authorized channel partners upload their inventory to our platform. Among these are key industry names such as Digi-Key, Arrow, Avnet, TTI, Mouser, and many more!

5. What kind of data is included in Partstat API?

The data that will be received following a user request includes unique URLs, data sheets, order quantities, component lead times, pricing, product descriptions and specs, and packaging protocols. Unlike similar offerings, this data will reflect the state of the market for that component at the point of inquiry, which ensures that any manufacturing decisions made based on the inquiry will be done using the most up-to-date information available. Also, it is worth nothing that all Partstat API users also have full integrated access to Part Search, which allows them to quickly search for individual electronic components to view trending charts, compare distributor prices, send Rapid RFQs, and more.

6. Are there any limitations to who has access to Partstat API within an organization?

Nope! Partstat API is capable of being seamlessly integrated into any OEM system, which in turn can be shared throughout all of the necessary departments. There are no limitations or restrictions regarding numbers of seats who have access to Partstat API.

7. How much does it cost?
