Honeywell Joins Forces with Cambridge Quantum Computing for Quantam Computing Advancement

Fortune reports. According to the terms of the merger, the company will be spun out from Honeywell as a stand-alone corporation, with Honeywell owning a 54% stake in the company while giving the company freedom to seek outside financing, if needed. Cambridge Quantam Computing’s major innovation comes from its work in creating an algorthymic advance that makes it possible to solve more complex optimization problem using the fewest qubits — the processing parts of a quantum computer — possible. “Faster quantum algorithms can have a profound impact on a variety of industries that face complicated optimization problems,” Ilyas Khan, the founder and chief executive officer of Cambridge Quantum Computing, said in a press release.

Coca-Cola Introduces New Packaging-Free, Self-Pour Dispensers in Spain

Continuing to refine the technology arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) is using Spain as a testing ground for their latest drink dispensing products. According to Beverage Daily, these machine will allow customers the ability to serve themselves, refill drinks, and pay all from the tap. “The self-pour, self-pay technology offers consumers a free-delivery method for their drinks, while also cutting down ques, reducing the need for unnecessary contact and freeing up serving staff — features that are beneficial as COVID-19 restriction lift,” said CCEP. The technology would also act as a “packaging-free” alternative that would greatly reduce packaging waste. Currently, CCEP claims a 25% stake in Innovative Tap Solutions (ITS), the company responsible for creating the technology, and has plans to introduce the technology throughout the rest of Western Europe in the near future.

General Electric Sells Aircraft Leasing Business to AerCap for $30

European antitrust regulators have just unconditionally approved a bid from Irish aircraft leasing company AerCap to purchase General Electric’s aircraft’s leasing business for $30 billion, CNBC reports. As a deal between the two largest aircraft leasing companies in the world, this merger would create the largest buyer for $24 billion in cash and $1 billion in the form of AerCap notes and cash. Additionally, AerCap will issue 115 million new shares to GE, making it the largest shareholder with a 46% stake in the combined leasing company. GE will also nominate two directors to the AerCap board.

HP Purchases Acclaimed High-Computing Software Provider Teradici

In an effort to enter into a market where customers will become increasingly reliant on high-performance computing for remote work arrangements, HP has announced that it will acquire high-performance computing provider Teradci, ZDNet reports. According to HP, its plan will be to pair Teradici with its ZCentral Remote Boost software that is focused on remote access to workstations. This will allow HP target users of high performance computing in industries like engineering, media, and animation. Teradici’s virtual workstation ecosystem includes Nvidia, Adobe, the “big three” cloud providers, Autodesk, Dell, VMware, HP, and HPE.
